Set within a beautifully restored 19th-century post office, Hello Sunday brings a vibrant glow to Sydenham, Christchurch. The room hums with natural light and neighbourly warmth, a reflection of the hospitality stewarded by Ashleigh Moir, Jamie Moir and Sarah Carr. It is a place where brunch is given a fine-dining polish without losing its easy charm, inviting guests to settle in and savour the moment.
The kitchen leans into bold, clean flavours and generous textures. Hello Sunday Signature Eggs Benny arrives layered with leek, preserved lemon potato hash, fresh spinach and house-made hollandaise, with the option of Hello Sunday bacon, roasted Swiss brown mushrooms or cold smoked salmon. Mushroom Duxelles Toast doubles down on umami with confit oyster mushrooms, basil and cream cheese on focaccia, finished with a delicate sesame rice cracker. For sharing, there are handcut fries with ketchup and confit garlic aioli, and buttermilk fried chicken with chipotle mayo and jalapeños.
Sweet tooths are well met by the Banoffee Waffle, a cinnamon sugar cradle for dulce de leche mascarpone, bruleed banana, roasted Swiss meringue and honeycomb. The Rhubarb Custard Crumble brings comfort with coconut custard, rhubarb compote, red wine poached pear and a coconut almond crumble, best paired with a bright round of mimosas.
